New Finds in our Drug Store

5.30.2012

I've been seeing alot of people sharing about some products that they feel are not only cheap, but good for the skin. And time and time again, they have mentioned the St. Ives collagen moisturiser, and the clay mask and peel-off mask from Freeman. So yesterday while shopping, I went to check if our stores carry these items (for the second time). And what a nice surprise! They finally arrived!!

When I was younger, my first Peel-off Masks were from St. Ives and I felt that as a teenager with zits always having a fiasco on my face, it really helped to pull out the dirt from under and helped my face heal faster. The only draw back was that it smelt kinda bad. But I got used to it everytime by the time it started to dry on my face. And at that time, I loved it so much. But anw, back to this. I bought the face moisturiser for obvious reasons, its collagen! And I'll only start using it tonight, and will mix it together with my secret concoction that I put every night to get an even skin tone. So after a period of time, when I can confirm that this stuff is good, I will reintroduce it to you guys to go try it out.

The other tub is the Apricot Scrub that is used for the body. I do love the Passion Fruit body scrub from The Body Shop, but it's really too expensive to use it on a frequent basis. So anw, as I've just used the Apricot scrub about half an hour ago in the shower, I'm really loving it! I've used many types of scrub, and even the Body Shop scrubs produce similar results. Which is soft and silky skin. However, this particular scrub is not only slightly more gentle than the others, it also contains more moisuture which you can feel as you scrub your skin. And the end result, is soft, silky, supple and highly moisturised skin. It also gives a slightly tingly sensation on my legs. I have no idea why. But I'm thinking this may not be due to the scrub. Haha... So i shall try it again a couple days later. But overall, I think I've found my new favourite!!

Both can be gotten from Venus shop at S$8.50
or the Guardian at S$11.50, each.

Next, I am just equally excited about these products because i've been wanting to find a clay mask to do some deep cleansing for my face. For those of you who do not know, a girl should in my opinion, always own 3 types of masks. (1) A clay mask for deep cleasing, used once every week. (2) A peel-off mask / a facial scrub to get rid of impurities and the dead skin to be used 1-2 times a week. (3) And lastly, a hydrating mask. To be used after the clay mask, or as and when you like. 2-3 times a week is my advice. However, how to choose the right type of mask, I shall cover in another entry.

I have only heard people talking about the goodness of the Green Clay Mask, but not the Yellow Clay Mask. Maybe it's cos it's a new product. That's why they only come in sample packages. But sadly, in comparison to the big tube, the packet clay mask is way more expensive. In addition, I bought green tea masks and promegranate masks that aids in calming and antioxidant to keep me looking younger and fresher.

I'm not sure if cheap stuff is always the way to go, especially when it comes to beauty products. Cos most of the time, you won't see that it is bad or has no particular goodness while you are young. Since your skin is just not old and crinkly yet. So you may end up only realising that all the effort and money you have spent has gone down the drain during your younger days after you start seeing fine lines starting to appear on your face. But anyway, just like the collagen moisturiser, if these products are good, I will do a more detailed review on it.

Guardian:
Cucumber Peel-Off Mask : $5.95
Green Clay Mask : $5.95
Promegranate Sheet Mask : $1.70/Sheet
Green Tea Sheet Mask : $ 2.00/Sheet
Mint and Lemon Clay Mask : $2.00/Sheet

If you have been thinking of what to get for your skin, then these are possible items you can try that are easily available and affordable. Hopefully this is useful for those who are unsure about what to get.
